Materials
About Label Printing Materials
We offer a wide range of sticker materials. The materials are broadly categorized into "paper" and "film". They are suitable for wet environments and outdoor use. We also offer environmentally friendly materials like LIMEX.
YUPO
YUPO features a matte and smooth texture similar to paper. It is highly durable and waterproof, making it useful in a wide range of fields. It is a recommended polypropylene material with high cost performance.
Washi
Washi features a unique matte texture. Although the lack of surface coating causes the ink color to slightly sink, the material itself offers a presence and luxury that can be enjoyed.
Hologram
Hologram materials change their reflective color based on the viewing angle. Choose from five impactful patterns. It is a waterproof and durable film material.
You can choose based on your purpose and design. If you're unsure which material is suitable, please feel free to contact us. We will suggest the appropriate material. We can also send free samples of the material after confirming the quote.
About Label Finishing
There are five types of sticker finishes: sheet cut, single cut, roll, guillotine cut, and punch cut. Sheet cut is convenient for hand application. Single cut is suitable for novelties and stickers. Roll is suitable for automatic application. Guillotine cut is also suitable for novelty stickers. Punch cut looks stylish for irregular shapes. Choose the finish that suits your purpose. For more details, please check "Five Types of Sticker Finishes".
Sheet Cut
Labels are appropriately attached to the backing sheet. It is convenient for hand application and cost-effective.
Single Cut
One label is attached to the backing sheet. It is suitable for distribution.
Roll
Labels and backing are rolled into a single column on a tube. This is for machine application.
Guillotine Cut
Labels and backing are the same size (square). It is suitable for distribution.
Punch Cut
Labels and backing are the same size (irregular shape). It is suitable for distribution.
Frequently Asked Questions about Label and Sticker Printing
- Can you print small batches of labels?
-
Yes, we can produce small batches (less than 999 sheets), but the total cost for quantities below 1,000 sheets is about the same. Since we purchase materials in 100-meter rolls, the unit price for small batches (around 1-300 sheets) is higher. Therefore, we recommend ordering at least 1,000 sheets (500 sheets minimum). The unit price decreases with larger quantities. For lower unit prices, we recommend ordering 3,000 sheets or more. If you want to print 1 sheet to a small batch of labels, online printing might be a better option.
- Can I make my own labels at home or using a convenience store printer?
-
Yes, you can. By purchasing sticker paper online or from a 100 yen shop, you can make your own original labels at home with your printer (inkjet or laser) at a low cost. If you want to print original stickers cheaply, we recommend using printers at convenience stores.
*However, please note that home printers may not use waterproof pigments, causing the ink to smudge when exposed to water.
At Kojima Label Printing, we use medium-sized printers to provide functional and attractive product labels mainly for corporate clients. We excel in creating stickers that add value to your products.
- Are there ways to print labels cheaply or at the lowest cost possible?
-
You can save costs by keeping the following in mind:
1.Order directly from a specialized label and sticker printing company. Search for such companies online.
2.Design in neat dimensions like rectangles or circles (e.g., 50×50mm). Neat dimensions may be handled with stock dies, saving approximately 1,000 to 8,000 yen.
3.Request letterpress printing. Letterpress printing is cheaper than offset printing by several thousand to tens of thousands of yen.
4.Use inexpensive materials like high-quality paper or art paper.
5.For single-color designs, specify using PANTONE (spot colors) instead of 4-color process.
6.Skip lamination (surface protection film) if durability is not required.
7.Plan internal tasks to avoid short deadlines. Short deadlines are an additional service. For more details, refer to the following article.
- What printing methods are available for label printing?
-
At Kojima Label Printing, we offer four printing methods: letterpress, offset printing, silk screen printing, and inkjet printing. We choose the printing method based on the customer's needs, considering cost, quality, price, quantity, and the intended use of the stickers. If you have specific requirements, please let us know in advance.
Here are the differences between each printing method:
Letterpress: Ink is transferred from the raised parts of the plate to the paper. This is the most common method for label and sticker printing, offering relatively inexpensive and high-quality results. Letterpress is not suitable for gradients, so offset printing is used for gradients.
Offset Printing: Ink (oil) and water repulsion is used to transfer ink only to the printed areas. Offset printing is more expensive but offers high-quality prints. It can reproduce detailed designs like high-resolution photos and gradients.
Silk Screen Printing: Ink is applied to a mesh screen and pressed directly onto the sticker. Only the ink in the open areas remains after squeegeeing. Silk screen printing is expensive but suitable for outdoor stickers. It struggles with fine details but offers durability and UV resistance.
Inkjet Printing: Pigments are sprayed from a nozzle based on electronic data to print on stickers. Inkjet printing is inexpensive and suitable for small batches. However, the printing speed is slow, making it costly for large quantities. It is suitable for up to 100 small items. The print quality is relatively coarse, but the pigments are durable and suitable for outdoor use.
