Discontinuation of In-House Delivery
To reduce air pollution, we have discontinued in-house delivery used for route sales. We also sold the company cars used for delivery. From now on, all product deliveries will be handled by shipping companies. This has significantly reduced our annual gasoline consumption.
Promotion of Paperless Operations
We are striving to minimize paper usage. Instead of printing faxes on paper, we forward them to our PC and view them on the monitor. Even when printing, we reduce the print density to save toner. Additionally, we manage accounting documents in the cloud without printing them. We are also working on a system to send invoices via email instead of mailing the originals. We will continue to promote paperless operations.
Fund Activities
Kojima Label Printing supports the fund activities of the Kanagawa Trust Midori Foundation. Over the past 40 years, more than one-fifth of Kanagawa's green spaces have been lost due to rapid urbanization. Kanagawa Prefecture is home to "mountain greenery" centered around Tanzawa and Hakone, and "urban greenery" such as the Satoyama and forest areas extending from the Sagamihara Plateau and Tama Hills to the Miura Peninsula.
This greenery nurtures timber resources and water sources, provides recreational spaces, and serves as habitats for diverse wildlife, making it indispensable for our lives. The Kanagawa Trust Midori Foundation public interest incorporated foundation is dedicated to preserving these green spaces in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Disposal Methods
Typically, waste from printing companies is treated as industrial waste. Kojima Label Printing recycles 98% of its industrial waste into solid fuel using the RPF method.
* RPF stands for Refuse derived paper and Plastics densified Fuel
RPF is a high-quality solid fuel made primarily from used paper and waste plastics that are difficult to recycle materially. It can be used as an energy resource for industrial boilers in paper mills, steel mills, lime companies, and many other industries as an alternative to fossil fuels (coal and oil).
Environmentally Friendly
The production of RPF uses industrial waste that would otherwise be disposed of, extracting energy resources from the waste. This significantly reduces transportation costs and the amount of waste disposed of by landfilling or incineration, enabling effective use of resources. This contributes to the conservation of the global environment by establishing a resource-recycling society. RPF production is effective in reducing CO2 emissions and preventing global warming due to improved combustion efficiency and reduced fossil fuel usage. Moreover, it generates almost no dioxins, making it environmentally friendly and safe.
Reduction of Boiler Fuel Costs
While maintaining the same calorific energy as conventional coal, RPF emits two-thirds less CO2 and costs about one-third of coal. This significantly reduces fuel costs for many industries. Additionally, because RPF burns almost completely, it also reduces ash disposal costs.
We will continue to promote environmentally-friendly manufacturing practices to reduce the environmental impact of our production cycle.
