Multilingual Labels
Combining Many Languages into One Multilingual Label
Multilingual labels are literally labels that are displayed in various languages. The idea is that the same content is displayed in different languages on each page.
For example, a label with warnings in Japanese, English, Chinese, French, Italian, etc., folded into one. These are also known as multilayer labels or leaflet labels.
Convenience
By increasing versatility, operations become easier. Tasks such as attaching documents and labels for each destination country can be handled with one multilingual label, allowing for global shipping. Inventory management by sales performance in each country also becomes easier. Of course, automatic application (roll) is also possible.
Multilingual Label Specifications
Multilingual labels have the following three-layer structure:
- Top layer: Laminate
- Middle layer: Coated paper
- Bottom layer: Tack paper (label)
The top layer laminate can be chosen from 16μ to 50μ thickness. The middle layer coated paper is where the languages and illustrations are laid out. The more languages, the larger the print area, but it is folded compactly.
The bottom layer tack paper is typically Yupo (synthetic paper) or art-coated paper. Printing is also possible.
Multilingual Label Case Study
Recently, we created multilingual labels for cosmetics handled by BHJ Co., Ltd. The printed part of the fold is offset printing, and the label part is letterpress printing. The print color is a calm navy PANTONE 2767C.
The folded part consists of 10 pages (the cover is the ingredient list, the other 9 pages are multilingual). The label part includes the brand's logo mark.
The cover has a simple design with text and a barcode.
The perforated part opens to unfold the label.
The accordion part (both sides) is multilingual.
The bottom layer label part has the Evidence De Beauté logo printed on it.

Proofing (Trial)
We recommend proofing for multilingual labels. Proofing involves creating the same product as the final one for your confirmation. The production of multilingual labels involves multiple processes, such as offset printing, folding, lamination, and inspection. Therefore, proofing (trial) costs 55,000 yen or more. Although optional, proofing helps to prevent mistakes by confirming print color and page positions in advance. 90% of our customers conduct proofing before mass production.
Delivery Time
The usual delivery time for multilingual labels is as follows:
Proofing (optional) ・・・ 11 business days (excluding weekends and holidays)〜
Mass production ・・・・・・・ 12 business days (excluding weekends and holidays)〜
Multilingual labels require more steps than regular label printing, resulting in longer delivery times. Please place your order with sufficient time. Check the lead time on the estimate and adjust accordingly.
Data Submission
Data submission is only accepted in Illustrator format. Once you specify the finished size and number of pages, we will send you the format data for layout design.
The format is simple, containing lines and dimensions. Anyone can easily layout their design.
Summary of Multilingual Labels
Multilingual labels are fully custom-made, allowing you to specify your desired dimensions and number of pages. The minimum order quantity is 5,000 pieces.
Compared to other printed materials, the processing is more extensive, resulting in a lead time of about three weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
