The foil is produced by Murata Kinpaku (Japan) and Kurz Japan (Germany).
*Foil stamped stickers can be made in small lots, but the total cost for quantities under 1000 pieces is roughly the same. Since we purchase materials in 100m units, the unit price for small lots (1-999 pieces) is higher. The unit price decreases as the quantity increases. We recommend ordering 3000 pieces or more to lower the unit price. If you want to print foil stamped stickers from one piece to small lots, it may be better to use online printing services.

Foil Stamping Process
Foil Stamping Stickers use a special foil stamping machine to heat transfer foil. (Note: cold foil is also available, but we will focus on the hot transfer method here.) The materials needed for creating foil stamped stickers are as follows:
・Tack Paper
・Foil
・Copper Plate (* Zinc plate is also possible)
First, set the tack paper, which will be the base of the sticker, on the foil stamping machine. Basically, coated paper is considered to be compatible with tack paper for foil stamping. Compatible materials include high-quality paper, art paper, foil paper, Japanese paper, etc. Next, set the foil on the foil stamping machine.
Finally, set the copper plate on the press part of the foil stamping machine. Heat the set copper plate slowly to about 100 degrees to complete the preparation. Next, overlay the foil on the previously set tack paper. Apply pressure with the heated copper plate to transfer the foil. Adjust the pressure, temperature, and processing speed of the machine as needed.
For large areas of foil, such as solid fills, pinholes (untransferred foil dots) are more likely to occur, testing the skills of the craftsmen. Once good products can be smoothly produced, the foil stamping machine can be left to do the work. The operator will then shift to checking the products for defects.

Minimum Size for Foil Stamping
The minimum font size is 5pt.
As you can see above, both the raised (top) and solid (bottom) are barely reproduced at 4pt, but they are not clean. Therefore, a font size of 5pt or more is recommended.
The minimum line width is 0.3 to 0.4pt.
The minimum line width for raised (top) should be at least 0.3pt. The thickness is about 0.1mm. At 0.3pt, there was a slight waviness. For solid (bottom), 0.4pt (thickness 0.14mm) or more is recommended. At 0.3pt, there may be some chipping. For more details, please see Samples of Foil Stamping Limits.

Paper materials are generally suitable for foil stamping.
High Quality Paper
The texture of high-quality paper is suitable for foil stamping. It enhances the sense of luxury and does not feel out of place.
Art Coated Paper
The semi-glossy sheen of art coated paper is compatible with foil, giving it an elegant appearance.
Mirror Coated Paper
Mirror coated paper has a strong gloss, so please consider the compatibility with the design.
Matte Coated Paper
Matte coated paper is suitable for foil stamping. It enhances the sense of luxury and has a clean feel.
Washi
Washi paper pairs very well with foil. Especially recommended is Washi cotton, which is not limited to Japanese designs.
Optional Processes for Creating a Luxurious Feel
Embossing
Recreate a three-dimensional effect by pressing the sticker.
Combining printing and embossing gives a stylish look.
Embossing is generally only available for paper materials.
Potting
Create a dome shape by applying resin to the sticker.
When applied to your product, it gives a premium feel.
Cannot be applied to curved surfaces.
In addition to foil stamping, there are other optional processes. Embossing to create a three-dimensional effect, and potting to create a dome shape with resin. By combining these optional processes, it is possible to create highly original stickers.

What is the delivery time for foil stamped stickers?
It varies depending on the quantity and combination with printing processing, but for about 10,000 sheets with printing and foil stamping, it takes about 7 business days (excluding weekends and holidays). For details, please refer to the estimate.
Can foil stamping be done at home?
Yes, it is possible. Foil stamping can be tried at home using some simple foil stamping kits. Since DIY foil stamping is done manually, it may take more time compared to professional services. Also, it may only handle a small number of items at a time. Professional foil stamping requires specialized equipment and skills.
What is the difference between foil stamping and hot stamping?
Foil stamping and hot stamping mean the same thing. Foil stamping refers to pressing foil with a heated plate. In English, it is called hot stamping. Therefore, in English-speaking countries, foil stamping is referred to as hot stamping.
Do you handle small lots for foil stamping?
We handle foil stamped stickers from 1,000 pieces. It is also possible to produce 500 pieces, but the price will be the same as for 1,000 pieces.
Are there sticker materials that can be used for special processing such as foil stamping?
In most cases, foil stamping is applied to paper. Specifically, it is often applied to high-quality paper, art paper, washi, etc. Of course, foil stamping can also be applied to films. Common options are Yupo and transparent PET. Foil stamping can be applied to most materials, so please feel free to contact us if you have any concerns.
Is there a way to create foil stamped stickers cheaply?
Yes, there is. The cost can be reduced if the design uses only foil. Also, if you want stickers with both foil and printing, reducing the number of colors will make it cheaper. For example, foil stamping + one color (black) allows for cheaper sticker production.
