Eco-friendly Sticker Material: Eco Marine

In conclusion, biomass is a material that uses plastic that is easily biodegradable in soil and marine environments and reduces carbon dioxide emissions when burned. We have added a new lineup of stickers using such biomass materials.

Previously, we introduced a material using recycled PET and biomass adhesive from a major sticker material manufacturer, LINTEC Corporation. This time, we will introduce Eco Marine Tac from Oji Tac Co., Ltd..

We hope this information will be helpful for companies looking to create labels using eco-friendly materials.

Please feel free to contact us.

Specifications of Eco Marine

Eco Marine Tac is available in two types: "white" and "transparent." It uses a special permanent adhesive, and the backing paper is a thin glassine separator.

■ White Product Code: BPW4/V41/KG6W

■ Transparent Product Code: BPC4/V41/KG6W

Eco-friendly label material Eco Marine uses biomass plastic for the sticker part (surface material), which is easily biodegradable. Biomass plastic is defined by the Japan Bioplastics Association as a high-molecular material obtained by synthesizing substances derived from renewable organic resources either chemically or biologically.

Features

■ Uses biomass plastic for the label part (surface material)
■ Uses a special agent that does not hinder the degradation of the surface material
■ Printing suitability equivalent to PET labels and OPP labels
■ Superior water resistance compared to general paper tack (label material)
■ Registered product in the Ministry of the Environment's "Plastic Smart" campaign to address the problem of marine plastic waste

Performance

In the marine degradation test, a 100×100mm size Eco Marine Label was tested in simulated seawater at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius for six months, and the size was reduced by 85%.

In the soil degradation test, a 100×100mm size Eco Marine Label was buried in humus soil and tested for six months, during which it decomposed into pieces and the area was reduced by about half.

Disadvantages

Eco Marine Tac is an excellent label material that considers the environment, but we have noticed some disadvantages during production.

■ More prone to deformation compared to other label materials. Although it is not very noticeable, the material itself may ripple slightly due to humidity.
■ Shrinks. Due to the nature of the material, it may shrink by about 2%.

These disadvantages may not be a significant problem, but if you are concerned, it is recommended to perform a proof (prototype) before mass production and conduct a test.

Summary of Eco-friendly Sticker Material: Eco Marine

We recognize Eco Marine as a comprehensive, good material, not just a halfway eco-material. We can also provide material samples, so please feel free to contact us.
