Labels with double-sided printing for a luxurious and unique impression

We were responsible for designing the label for Nishihira Shuzo’s brown sugar shochu "Sango". The request was to design a larger label for the back and implement double-sided printing. This allows the bottle to appear as though it has a full design when viewed from the front. Such an idea is difficult to achieve unless you fully understand the characteristics of the label.
Our proposal
Since the specifications were already clearly defined, our proposal was limited to selecting materials. We used washi-cotton paper for the front label with the product name, and for the back label, we used transparent PET 25μ with a reverse print of the inner design (printing reversed left to right). Additionally, to prevent transparency, we laminated with white-coated 25μ and overlaid it with high-quality 70kg paper, then printed the content on the back.

The adhesive side printing creates a visual effect as though the entire bottle has been decorated. This is because the bottle shape and the transparent liquid act like a magnifying glass. Double-sided printing is a recommended special processing for transparent bottles.
