Reason for choosing Kojima LabelWe decided to work with them because of their extensive lineup of washi paper materials.
NeedsWe plan to create three types of labels—lid, front, and back—and since this is a special product, we want it to convey a sense of luxury.

Request details

The client requested labels for nut products, preferring washi paper as the material. As the illustrations contain fine details, they asked for precise and beautiful reproduction.

Our proposal

We proposed “Washi Kinari” paper, which the client selected. “Washi Kinari” is an unbleached, natural-colored washi with a soft, ivory tone rather than pure white. The random fibers within the paper give it a traditional Japanese aesthetic. Printing was done in black only. Since the illustration had very fine details, we used a flexo plate to accurately reproduce even the smallest dots. As the labels were to be applied by hand, we delivered them in sheet-cut form.

Illustrator: ESOW
Born in Tokyo in 1972, ESOW started skateboarding at 13 and moved to the U.S. at 17, where he discovered graffiti. Influenced by the spirit of Edo—his cultural roots—he developed his own unique style. Based in Asakusa, he has exhibited works not only in Japan but also in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, attracting attention for many years. His creative mediums range from paper, walls, and wood to three-dimensional works, showing remarkable versatility. ESOW also collaborates with various brands and companies. As a founding member of “T19,” a pioneering force in Japan's skate culture, and a member of “Daizu Jikken,” which has left a mark in Japan’s graffiti history, his contributions to the art scene are extensive.
