Plum Wine Label with a Westernized Design
Consultation Details
This project involved creating the label for Minabe Craft Umeshu Yii. Given that it is a premium umeshu, they also wanted to produce a sealing sticker simultaneously. They requested that embossing be applied to the label to evoke a sense of exclusivity. The printing was specified in a Special 3-color process, and they desired a material with a natural texture. Additionally, they requested to proceed with mass production only after reviewing a prototype.
Our Proposal
We proposed using “Washi Cotton” as the material. Its naturally textured finish, including slight ink bleed inherent in the printing process, creates a craft-like impression that complements the product better than coated paper. Although embossing on washi cotton is not highly prominent, we committed to applying maximum pressure to reproduce the effect, and confirmed the raised texture with a prototype. As the label is applied by hand, it was delivered as a sheet-cut product.

Traditionally, people have been making homemade umeshu using plums harvested from their own fields, enjoying it with their families. Our craft umeshu is made with safe and secure Nanko plums grown on our own farm. We highlight each unique recipe, with a "Farm to Table" concept where the maker's face is visible.
